West Side Blues Ambassador Larry Taylor is among West Side leaders noted in the 40th anniversary of the Austin Voice weekly newspaper, along with community activist Brenetta Howell Barrett, mental health leader Donald J. Dew, Congressman Danny K Davis, Ald. Emma Mitts and Rep. La Shawn K. Ford. The edition celebrated Black History Month and honored the late Voice editor Brad Cummings. The article noted Larry Taylor's role in FOUR Blues, reviving the culture of West Side blues.
West Side is catching up in public awareness with the famous Black South Side. Both sections of Chicago hosted lots of blues music back in the day, and blues is at the root of all Black music and American popular music in general.
